OMA won the toss and decided to field.

Mermaids were looking to get off to a good start and Anshuman and Haroon went in to open. Having walked under several ladders recently and trying to avoid a hatrick of ducks Haroon got off the mark with an early single but couldn't prevent himself for falling to a simple catch at square for 6 in the 5th over. Greig joined Anshuman at the crease and the two put together a near century partnership (98!) with a mixture of graceful shots and quick running. At one end Greig was doing his best impression of Freddie Flintoff bludgeoned two 6's and eight 4's in a score of 63 as he tried to accelerate the run rate before eventually getting run out. At the other end Anshuman also gave the OMA bowlers hell with six 4's of his own in an knock of 49. As so often happens the break up of the partnership led to a mini collapse with three Mermaid wickets falling in one over, Dez and Simon being bowled to go with Greig's run out. The score eventually found it's way to a mighty 139.

With a big total to defend the boys felt confident going out in to the field. OMA were always behind the required run rate but held stubbornly on for the first 10 overs seeing just 1 wicket fall. When Simon and Dez (the duck boys) came in to bowl they changed the complexion of the game. Simon picked up a couple of clean bowleds to go with Dez's incredible figures of 5 wickets for 19 runs from his 4 overs. The weird thing was that each of Dez's victims were got out in a different way - one bowled, one caught, one bowled and caught, one lbw and one stumping. Rajesh and Fahad picked up a wicket a piece as OMA fell 28 runs short of the target to get Mermaids back to winning ways!
